Here is Ankit's story of his challenges in his own words:
My name is Ankit Kumar Singh, a resident of Jharkhand who completed his primary schooling in the same region and later went on to finish his 12th grade from BGIS Vrindavan. Currently, I am pursuing my second year of graduation from the University of Delhi. Despite the challenges of having to work at a brick factory to pay for my education and coaching expenses, I have persevered and excelled in my studies.
Growing up, I faced difficulties when I lost my father at the young age of 8 and was raised by my mother who is a homemaker. I am one of four brothers, with one being mentally challenged, one still studying, and another supporting the family through a private job. Despite these challenges, I was able to rank first in my district and 11th in my 10th board exams and 8th in my 12th board exams in the state. I have also won several cultural awards, including the Learn Gita live Gita fest by the director of IIT Mandi, and received scholarships and financial support from organizations like the Colgate scholarship program and Pragati foundation.
My desire to become an IAS officer stems from my frustration with corruption in the government. I was faced with the injustice of having to pay bribes for essential services such as processing my father's death certificate and passport verification. I aim to serve my country in an honest and effective manner, and to tackle the widespread corruption that prevents many from accessing essential services and achieving their goals.
I am seeking a contribution of 100,000 INR to pay for my UPSC course material, for which I have chosen Unacademy for my coaching due to its strong mentorship and expert instructors. While I am currently working part-time to support myself, it is not enough to pay for my UPSC materials.
In conclusion, I would like to leave you with the quote, "There is no exercise better for the heart than reaching down and lifting people." Your contribution will not only help me achieve my dream of becoming an IAS officer but also empower me to lift others in the process. I thank you for considering my request.
